How to win at Competition

This course is essential for anyone who wishes to represent Ishinryu in Competition – whether in Kata or Kumite.

A good knowledge of the rules WILL greatly increase your chances of winning.

For those wishing to gain an association qualification, this course is your first step in becoming an Ishinryu Table Official, Judge or Referee.

This course is FREE for all Ishinryu members under 16 years PROVIDING you wear a Gi and bring your own protective gear.  AND – you must be prepared to compete in the practical sessions.

A competition area will be set up for this practical and very interactive course.  Everyone will get a chance to Judge, Referee, as well as to score and time-keep at the table. This three hour course is open to all Ishinryu members.  Students from other Karate associations are also welcome to attend.

  • How to avoid penalties.
  • How to operate with the Tatami officials to your own advantage.
